Mission-Mexico

Heartbreak

Me and my church youth group are very involved in ministry. We travel to Moldavia, Russia, Germany and Mexico. Recently we made a trip to Mexico to help out the young orphaned children. We spent one hour a day at the daycare to take care of the younger children while the mothers would go out to work in the fields. There were a lot of seven to eight year olds taking care of babies, and it was really heartbreaking. We would give them toys, food, essentials for hygiene and of course their favorite, CANDY 🙂 We would wake up as early as 6 am to go pick up the kids on a really old van where they would sit in the back on cushions. At the daycare we would sing songs in spanish about Jesus to the children and show them picture books based on the bible. By the end of the week they were really sad to see us go, and it was hard to say goodbye. These children barely have anything to live on and yet they are so grateful for a piece of candy and they praise and sing songs of worship to God. They have inspired me to have a different outlook on my life.
